There’s no telling exactly what is about to change in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once Avengers 4 concludes. Who’s still going to be around to defend Earth and the cosmic realms from evil? What are the alliances going to look like after the war? There are many questions that fans are preparing to ask, as well as some they don’t even know they have yet.
A couple of changes we’ve already seen are based around our heroes’ weaponry. The Winter Soldier, after having his arm blasted off by Iron Man in Civil War, sported a new look given to him by Shuri and T’Challa in Wakanda. Similarly, after leaving his shield behind, Captain America got some new tech from Wakanda. This got us thinking about all of the shields Cap has had over the years. So, from the page to the screen, here are 11 of the most recognizable and most obscure shields from Steve Roger’s past!
Vibranium Disc Shield
We’ll start off with the shield that everyone knows and loves from the MCU films. Given to Cap by Howard Stark in The First Avenger, Rogers has battled through five films, and made a cameo with it in one, with this vibranium shield.
In the comics, it was given to Captain America by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1941. No matter what’s happened to it over the decades, this iconic shield always makes it back to Cap and continues to carry tradition with it!
