Fandango has recently posted an interview with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. In the interview, Coogler talked about the different influences that helped form the unique style of the film, as well as the measures that were taken to avoid common superhero movie stereotypes.
The young director spoke about the amount of research he delves into in order to achieve inspiration. He mentioned that one film in particular he has leaned on (among many others) for creative osmosis is a French film from 2010 named Un Prophete, which served as a big inspiration for Black Panther.
Coogler also talked about the espionage tint that Black Panther will take on, pulling the essence of Agent 007 into the DNA of the film.
