Marvel’s Black Panther continues to make history at the box office after its second weekend in theaters. Not only has it become a smash hit in terms of financial success, its cultural impact has been even larger. Director Ryan Coogler, the cast, and the crew did a phenomenal job.
Black Panther joined the ranks of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and The Avengers by becoming the fourth film to earn $100 million or more in its second weekend. Per Box Office Mojo, Black Panther grossed $108 million domestically, besting the $130 million Avengers made, and is second to only the $149.2 million of The Force Awakens.
This past weekend puts Black Panther over $400 million domestically, which is the number that prognosticators believed it would hit during its entire run.
