Directed by Ryan Coogler and written by Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther has been experiencing a massive amount of success at the box office, surpassing record after record. Recent ticket sales put the film’s debut at a staggering projected $218 million, currently bringing global earnings to a total of $361 million if the international numbers ($169 million) were to be added.
Black Panther has already surpassed the previous record holder, Deadpool, which held the President’s Day Weekend Debut title at $152 million in 2016. Actor Ryan Reynolds was more than gracious in passing the torch to Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther) and crew, posting a message of congratulations on Twitter.

Not only has the movie earned a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it Certified Fresh, but its numbers put it at the top of the list of superhero non-team-up films beating out Iron Man 3.
The film grossed an estimated $75.81 million, beating out Deadpool ($47.3 million) again for the February opening day record.
