It’s extremely difficult to keep expectations low for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, especially coming off the brilliance of Black Panther in February. With all of the footage that we’ve seen so far, whether that be the trailers or TV spots, the film looks to be shaping up into exactly what Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios envisioned when they gave the Russo Brothers the keys to the kingdom. They were incredible directing Captain America: Winter Soldier and the same thing can be said with Captain America: Civil War.
Their experience on Civil War gives the Russos the experience needed to take on a cast this big, especially with the stakes being as high as they are in a battle with the Mad Titan, Thanos. As a fan, it’s going to be interesting to see how they’re able to fit in so many different characters. One of the characters we’re excited to see is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Last seen in Thor: Ragnarok, Strange should be an integral part of the storyline due to the Eye of Agomotto, the necklace containing the Time Stone, which is in his possession.
During a talk with Entertainment Weekly, Benedict Cumberbatch let us know what we should expect with the film…
“It’s just mind-blowingly epic. What I thought is, ‘this just doesn’t stop.’ Once it starts, it does. Not. Stop. It’s just this horrible, brilliant, terrifying, at times funny, at times very moving, relentless action. It’s like everyone’s constantly in crisis, and catching up with themselves, and it’s really breathless to read a script like that.
This isn’t a slow burn. You’re really thrown in helter-skelter. It’s got a lot of facets to it, but I think the main one for me was just how utterly relentless the events and action were.”
As if our expectations for this one weren’t high enough, Strange brings us that quote. The big day is April 27th, can we start the countdown yet? Catch all of your favorite heroes on screen together when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters in 11 days!
