CBR’s Brian Cronin had recently taken a look at some classic Marvel comicbooks that made it into an episode of the show M*A*S*H. In his segment known as “The World Outside,” Cronin delves into the world of Korean war-time medical personnel, scoping out a couple of mentions of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
One such appearance comes into play during episode 17 of the fourth season called “Der Tag,” Where Hawkeye Pierce (Played by Alan Alda) and his friend BJ Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell) befriend a less-than-savory surgeon by the name of Frank Burns (Larry Linville) against their will. The pair became so irritated by the man that they put a toe tag on him while he was passed out, sending him to the front lines by accident. It was only then that they had to save him from his demise and bring him back.
The beginning of the episode shows Radar O’Reilly (Gary Burghoff) taking a snooze, and holding the 60th issue of the Avengers comicbook, which is oddly anachronistic since that came out in 1968. The time-traveling comicbook was released over a decade after the setting of M*A*S*H.
