When you think about Marvel superheroes, Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, is definitely among the top tier characters on the list. Obviously, his iconic red, white, and blue uniform, along with his shield, set him apart from others visually. But there is a lot that goes on within the depths of Cap’s character that holds him true to his moral compass and has helped him be a proven and effective warrior and leader more times than not.
After being first introduced in the Marvel comicbook universe back in 1941, the character has certainly developed over the years, which may have left some room for confusion about Captain America for those who haven’t followed him every step of the way. In case you didn’t know, here goes a list of 10 things that are commonly mistaken about Cap!
Not The First Avenger
Well, technically, no he isn’t. Although Cap was doing some very “Avengery” stuff predating the team in the comicbooks and starred in a movie called Captain America: The First Avenger, the character was brought on to a current team of Avengers consisting of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, The Wasp, and Thor back in The Avengers #4.
Hasn’t Always Led The Avengers
Piggy-backing off of the first point, Cap hasn’t always led Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Other team leads include the likes of Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Vision, among others.
There Have Been Others
Although there is only one Steve Rogers, there have been more than one Captain Americas. Sam Wilson and William Nasland have also taken on the mantle.
